In Finby, you'll find Kajsa Lassander's charming ceramics workshop, filled with beautiful handmade ceramic items – from lovely coffee cups to imaginative sculptures. In Närpes Nybro, we visit Karin Lipkin-Forsén’s studio, beautifully located by the old stone bridge. Enjoy her paintings and graphic works in a scenic natural setting.
We’ll also make a stop at the Town Hall, where you can view paintings by the renowned artists Viktor Dahlbo and Carl Bengts. In Nämpnäs, Mia Gull’s unique studio awaits, located in a renovated henhouse. Here, you'll be treated to an artistic experience featuring both artworks and live rabbits. The tour concludes at the Art Hall in the Mittistan building, where we get the chance to see the current exhibition featuring exciting works by both local and national artists.
Enterprising Närpes

We begin with a visit to the bodywork factories Närko and NTM, renowned for their custom-built garbage trucks, before continuing to Caraway, which exports cumin and coriander to international markets.
The tour then takes us to the Högback industrial area, home of companies such as mattress manufacturer Hilding Anders and Pedelux, which produces sunshades and stage curtains.
The guide provides insights into these businesses and presents them from the outside, offering an interesting look at the diverse business sector in Närpes. With a bit of luck, a company visit can be arranged, allowing us to see the production process up close.

A literary journey through Närpes

We visit Närpes Gymnasium, where Anna-Lisa Österberg taught, and continue to Öster-Yttermark, where she lived for much of her life.
Our journey then takes us to Pörtom, where we find the birthplace of Pali-Maj and a memorial dedicated to her. In Rangsby, we see another memorial and visit the place where she spent her later years, as well as a schoolhouse similar to those where she once taught.
Next, we head to Tjärlax, where Edith Södergran’s father’s childhood home is located. The tour concludes at the Närpes cemetery, where we find the grave of Anna-Lisa Österberg and the resting places of the Södergran/Södergrann family.
A perfect tour for those who wish to deepen their understanding of Närpes’ literary heritage and its connection to some of the region’s most prominent authors.
The sea, forests and small-town charm

On our way back, we drive along the scenic and forested old Kaskö road, passing through the picturesque village of Bäckby. A perfect tour combining the sea, forest, small-town charm, and a relaxing countryside setting – all in just a few hours.
Discover Pörtom on foot
Read MoreWe start our walk at Pörtom Church, where we learn about its history. We continue past the site of the old church to the scenic Erklasstigen trail, a walking path of about one kilometer.
The trail winds along the river, featuring beautiful rapids and calmer sections – perfect for enjoying nature. Along the way, we pass a historic cemetery before heading back towards the village.
On our return, we pass the school building and several older houses with fascinating histories. The walk concludes at the church, leaving us with many new impressions from both nature and culture.
From Ancient Times to the Present in Pörtom

The tour continues to Pörtom’s local heritage museum, where a unique glass exhibition awaits. The exhibition showcases products from the historic Berga Glassworks, which operated in Pörtom during the 19th century.
We conclude the tour in Pörtom Kyrkby, where we explore the beautiful church and its scenic surroundings – a place with a peaceful atmosphere and rich history.
Greenhouse tour
Read MoreJoin a short interesting tour offering insight into the renowned greenhouse industry in Närpes. Our tour passes by large, impressive greenhouse facilities and continues to Linds Kök, the popular greenhouse restaurant where you can feast on local flavors.
Next, we visit a greenhouse in Pjelax that sells a variety of vegetables – a perfect stop for those who want to buy fresh and locally produced ingredients. On the way back, we pass through three scenic villages and stop at Närpes Grönsaker, a farmer-owned packing facility.
The tour is concluded at a greenhouse in Finby, where fresh strawberries and raspberries are available during the spring and autumn seasons.
Please note that going inside the greenhouses is not possible due to infection risk, but this tour still provides an excellent insight into the prominent greenhouse industry in Närpes.
